The Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry announced Friday May 23, 2008 that The Norwegian State will enter the guarantee agreement in place for Eksportfinans ASA. The guarantee agreement signed between Eksportfinans ASA and some of its owner banks ensures that these owner banks guarantee for further unrealized losses in the liquidity portfolio for an amount of up to NOK 5 billion. The proposition from the Norwegian Government, for final approval of the Storting, announces that the Norwegian State will participate in the guarantee agreement on a pro rata basis of its ownership share of Eksportfinans ASA, for an amount of up to NOK 750 million.
