Norway Trade Fairs (Norges Varemesse) at Lillestrøm will once again be the setting for Nor-Shipping, and this year it is taking place from May 24 to May 27. Eksportfinans will be participating with its own stand this time as well, and can be found in hall C (Safety at Sea – Safety and Rescue Park) at stand number C02-30d (by the lounge area). Stop by to test your geography skills and see whether you can excel in the competition of becoming “The Navigator of the Day”. There will be daily prizes for both skillful and lucky competitors.
The Nor-Shipping fair is arranged every other year, and was first arranged in 1965. The fair is a leading meeting place for the world’s shipping industry today, with exhibitors from 50 countries in an area equivalent to more than two football pitches. It is expected that more than 35.000 people will visit the fair during the week.
The theme for this year’s fair is “Next Generation Shipping” – with a focus on future development trends and areas such as innovation and technology, environment, new business areas and changes in the world trade.
The opening conference will consist of speakers such as Thor Jørgen Guttormsen, president of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, and Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske. In addition to this, there will be a debate amongst leading figures on the maritime industry’s future, led by former CNN Financial Editor Todd Benjamin. On the second day, CEO of Brazil’s Petrobras José Sergio Gabrielli, will be a keynote speaker during the “Agenda Offshore”.
