Far Samson the words most powerfull offshore vessels was awarded the Ship of the year prize at Norshipping 2009.
Far Samson was delivered on March 24, 2009. She is designed by Rolls-Royce and built by STX Europe, Langsten for Farstad Shipping in Ålesund. The ship is one of the most powerful offshore vessel ever built and is on a long term charter contract to Saipem UK Ltd.The vessel is a truly multifunctional offshore vessel and is capable of carrying out heavy ploughing operations for pipes and cables on the seabed as well as subsea installation work in ultra deep water. The vessel's bollard pull will be more than 350 tons continous.
Eksportfinans has provided the long term financing of the vessel and the total loan amount is NOK 680 million. The repayment period is 12 years. The guarantors are DnBNOR, GIEK and Handelsbanken.
